Jonas SHG (Janos x Blue Velvet)

• 2004 purebred Shagya-Arabian gelding.
• Jonas is an impressive gelding, standing  16hh – 16.1hh, with large bone and a well balanced frame.
• He has a good body with a deep girth.

• Sire: Janos (*Salem x *Bashira) was a black purebred Shagya-Arabian stallion, bred by Addy Loch.  Janos was an extremely friendly and athletic horse, with a powerful build.
• Dr. Stephanie Fine brought Janos along in the sport of endurance, both in the featherweight and heavyweight divisions.  Janos finished in the top ten in several United States 100-mile endurance races and won some Best Conditions (see AERC # H380047).
• Dr. Fine sold Janos to Mr. Seiichi Hasumi, of Japan, in late 2007.  In Japan he continued to train at FEI level endurance and was used to reestablish the Shagya-Arabian breed in Japan, until his untimely death prior to the 2010 WEG at which he was scheduled to participate.

• *Janos’ pedigree traces back to many influential and champion Shagyas, including Bajar.  Bajar is one of the most influential Shagya-Arabian stallions of all time for Shagya-Arabian, Warmblood and German Riding Pony breeding.

• Dam: Blue Velvet (*Budapest AF x Blue Rafoneeka ox) is now doing well in Cowboy Mounted Shooting competitions.

• Her sire *Budapest AF (Shagal x *Biala) has a proven performance record under saddle and has sired numerous offspring that have proven themselves in distance, dressage and jumping.
• *Biala also produced Blixten AF, a top level USDF winning dressage horse.
• *Biala is also the dam of the stallion Bayram (by *Oman) whose offspring are competing well at top levels of endurance and CTR.

• Blue Velvet’s purebred Arabian bloodline includes the stallion Fetyz ox, from the Janow Podlaski Stud, Poland.
• Fetyz was quite influential in Warmblood breeding.
• He is the sire of Famulus, considered a foundation sire of the Trakehner breed’s most powerful dressage line through Maharadscha, and can be found in the bloodlines of many other notable performance horses,  including the Olympic gold show jumping medallist Abdullah *Pg*E*.

• After selling Jonas SHG as a two year old, he returned to our herd in June 2010 and started serious  training in October 2010.
• He impresses all who ride and handle him,  including his trainer and the Junior Rider who condition him on the trails,  due to his willingness,  sane demeanor and athletic abilities.
• A promising young riding horse with tons of ability to compete in sport.

• Jonas continues to compete in distance and cross-train in dressage and jumping with his owner Christina Phillips.
• October 2011 – Jonas SHG & Christina were Res Champs at the NJ Devil 2-day 50 Mile CTR.
