The European Shagya Championships were well attended with 90 horses signed up to compete in halter classes (horses are presented in hand and at the triangle – walk and trot). The Austrian Shagya registry also held their breed inspections on Friday before the ISG Meeting.
Purebred Shagya-Arabians and Arabians were inspected for Shagya-Arabian, Anglo-Arab and purebred breeding. Horses were presented in carriage, under saddle for dressage (including side-saddle) and young riders presented their skills at jumping. Overall a great Show which provided spectators with a wonderful glimpse of top quality European Shagya-Arabians.IMG 2830 300x225 The 2010 Euopean Shagya Championships

 Janos (*Salem x *Bashira)

Janos at his 1st 100-mile ride with Dr. Fine on board.

We were very saddened to hear of the sudden loss of the black purebred Shagya Arabian stallion Janos. We were fortunate to have bred two mares to him prior to his exportation to Japan, Jonas SHG (Janos x Blue Velvet by *Budapest) and O’Bajan Sahara (Janos x Shagya Scarlettte by *Shandor).

It was so great to learn that *Lutka-62 (dam of Neddora and Ledger) has family ties to the Grand Champion Shagya at the recent European Championship show in Austria.

Its in the bloodlines if you just give it a chance.

The winner of best Shagya was the stallion Latigo 129 (Lumbush x Ibn Fatima by Kemir III-1).  Pictured above. (Poto courtesy of his owners). Both he and Lutka-62 are sired by Lumbusch (Shagya XXII-51) bred at Topolcianky Stud Farm in Slovakia.  Congratulations!

A belated Congratulations to Skye - the new owner of Ledger SHG (Neddor x Lutka-62)

He may be the first and only Shagya Arabian in the state of Rhode Island.

If you know otherwise or of any other Shagyas in that State or nearby, let us  know.

*Gazin (Monrad ox x Gharifa ShA)
*Gazin (Monrad ox x Gharifa ShA)

Thanks to all who participated at the inspection at my place in September.

Congratulations to all horses who participated as all were approved for breeding.

The big news is that *Gazin (Monrad ox x Gharifa ShA) was Approved for Shagya Breeding with an average score of 8.0 upon his inspection and he wowed the crowd and Judges with his jumping ability through the jumping chute.

Hopefully the results from the tour will be posted on the internet soon.

Here are some pictures of the foals we’ve bred over the past few years. Not many in number (six) but all are representatives of the purebred Shagya and part-Shagya races. Enjoy the photos!

We’re back from the ISG Meeting 2009 held at Futtercamp, Germany. The weekend of events included a Shagya-Arabian Symposium and presentation of horses.

Shelley Housh and Dr. Walter Huber were my navigators as we found our way through the rain and around Northern Germany, visiting the Trakehner Stud Hohenschmark and the Shagya Stud farm, castle, and guest house Gut Ludwigsburg. At Gut Ludwigsburg Mr. Carl presented his stallions Bazar (Bajar x Sabrina by Radautz), Babel (Bajar x Sabrina by Radautz), and Suheil L.

At both studs we saw many fine Trakehners, Shagyas, Anglo-shagyas and warmblood crosses of all ages and it was clear that no matter the pedigree all were bred for performance.

After the symposium’s discussions and presentations about marketing Shagya-Arabians as a breed in today’s marketplace, the ZSAA’s computer program for “Breeding Value Assessment” and melanomas in horses, many Shagya-Arabians were presented in a free jumping demonstration and under saddle in dressage, jumping, endurance, long lining and as children’s mounts for schooling.

The Shagya stallions Suheil L (Sulayman x Sabrina by Radautz), Balou (by Shaman), Kalid Mersuch (Mersuch XIX-37 x Hadban XXVII-34), Peron (Puschkin R x Siena II)  and Dartan (Daru x Sobo’s Tandarra by Radautz) were presented as well as a fine group of mares and geldings.

Nest year’s ISG Meeting will be held in conjunction with the European Championships for Shagyas and Lipizzaner at Piber in Austria. And, an invitation was extended by the Romanian members to hold the 2011 ISG meeting at Radautz.
